- Responsible to execute system enhancements, troubleshoot existing systems, and provide production support.
- Responsible for monitoring and tracking metrics for system up time, performance, etc.

- Completion of post-secondary degree or diploma in software development or 2 years practical experience performing an application development and support role building software using current programming languages and working with relational database systems and structure query languages.

- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner with style fitting for the audience and message.
- Strong planning and organizing skills, with the ability to develop and implement plans by prioritizing and multi-tasking.

- Experience with any of the following technologies is considered an asset:
- using software development tools, such as JIRA, Confluence, Source Code Management and TeamCity
- software development tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Git, Bitbucket, and Jenkins
- web services / APIs such as SOAP, JSON, REST
- monitoring tools such as Splunk and AppDynamics
- MuleSoft or enterprise integration software
- Unix; Windows; Oracle; Microsoft SQL Server

- Certifications in relevant technology or processes is considered an asset.

Job Overview
Working under minimal supervision, this role as an Application Developer will be part of our Digital Delivery Canadian Application Development team and contributes to Wawanesa's success by maintaining, supporting, and enhancing our web-based application used by our broker network.
The Digital Delivery applications team focuses on applications that provide functionality externally. In addition to externally focused application delivery, the team also provides support for Wawanesa's digital strategy.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for contributing to the overall stability and continuous improvement of production systems and will be expected to execute system enhancements, troubleshoot existing systems, and provide production support.
You enjoy working in an agile scrum team model that facilitates rapid design, development and implementation of application changes that embodies a passion for continuous improvement and test-driven development. You will have experience in front end / client-side applications design and web development and have relevant technical proficiency with software technologies/tools such as JavaScript, Angular JS, and Java. Preferably you will have technical proficiency with ReactJS and/or integration/API development. Experience with Guidewire applications such as ProducerEngage and InsuranceSuite is also an advantage.
